Reminder: Those that purchased a 5th Saturday Project Bag in May, your challenge is due 29 Aug 2025!

What is the 5th Saturday Challenge??  Every month that has a 5th Saturday, you can purchase a 5th Saturday bag and use the ingredients to make any project your heart desires.

The guidelines are: 
You must use at least a piece (no size requirements) of all the fabric in the bag.
You may add additional fabric. 

All projects are due at the next 5th Saturday and will then be hung in the store for a selected amount of time for visitors to vote on their favorite project.
Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place.

Casserole Carrier Workshop

As the “Bring a Dish” season is coming, Ann is sharing how to make a casserole carrier for your next event! Super cute and fun! Space is limited! Therefore, call to reserve your spot today at (757) 808-5947.

Supplies:

Rulers & mat: Recommend 18” x 24” mat minimum, and 6” x 24” ruler.

General: scissors, seam ripper, regular pins, neutral thread for construction, compatible colors for quilting. Optional: blue painter tape to mark quilting lines.

Fabric: (We always encourage you to shop your stash!)

1 1/2 yards 100% yard cotton 44” wide “fancy” fabric for outside (handle) panel and ties. 2 tabs 4” x 4” fancy fabric for closing dowel pockets.

1 1/2 yards 100% yard cotton 44” wide fabric for inside fabric lining.

Optional: 1 1/2 yards silver lining instead of cotton (the type used for ironing board covers).

Two 12” x .5” inch dowels.

Velcro 3/4” wide hook and loop tape for tabs, 4” - Ann will supply.

Batting - 45 x 60 cotton.

Sewing machine (with cord, foot pedal, bobbins, manual, presser feet - 1/4” foot for construction, walking foot for construction & quilting, darning/freehand foot for quilting if you prefer. Lubricating the machine, and a new needle  (12/80 or 14/90 microtex, sharp, or topstitch) recommended.

Any supplies needed for the class, we offer a 15% discount in the store. You also will enjoy a 15% discount on the day of the workshop!

Finished Quilt: Approximately 43” Wide x 33” High

A Bargello is a quilt made by sewing long, narrow strips of fabric together to create a wavy, tapestry-like design that appears to have movement. The technique is based on a 17th-century Florentine needlepoint embroidery style.  These patterns look complicated, but they're actually a fine fit for beginning quilters. If you can sew a straight seam, you can do this! Ann, will guide us throw her favorite method to achieve this beautiful quilt!

Supplies for this quilt:

Sewing machine (with cord, foot pedal, bobbins, manual, presser feet, and 1/4” foot or preferred way to create a 1/4” seam allowance). Lubricating the machine and a new needle (12/80 microtex, sharp, or topstitch) recommended.

Rulers & Mat: Recommend 18” x 24” mat minimum with guide or lines marked on the mat, and 6” x 24” ruler.

Small paper squares, post it notes, etc., to label columns and rows.

General: scissors, seam ripper, regular pins plus 3-4 large safety pins).

Neutral thread for construction.

Fabric:

8 fat quarters (18” x 22”) labeling them A through H

Arrange in order from light to dark, for example. The greatest contrast needs be between H & A

1/4 yard for inside borders

1 yard for borders and binding

Batting

Backing

Prior to the class:

At time of registration, you will be given cutting instructions for fabrics to be completed before the class begins.

Easy & fun to make, and are perfect for storing and carrying make-up, sewing supplies, tech gear, and “sew” much more! Come and join the fun with our local bag making expert, Ute! Ute will guide you through how to make this adorable and practical zipper pouch in this fun workshop.

Supplies:

The pattern, “Clam Up,” from By Annie. This is not included in the workshop cost. However, you can purchase yours at HALO Inspirations Quilt Shop!

Fabric:

(1) Fat Quarter for main fabric and (1) Fat Quarter for the lining

Hand bag zipper ie. by Annie. Ute recommends a 30” zipper with 2 pulls. This way you can make 2 pouches. HALO has several options available.

Soft and Stable for bag. Once piece of 9” X 12” is needed and will be supplied by HALO Inspirations.

Thread-Recommended to use threads that compliment fabrics and matches the zipper color.

You will need 3 fabrics-

A: (1) 1/2 Yard (The printed fabric in above picture)

B: (1) Fat Quarter (approximately 18” X 22”-the white fabric in the above picture)

Backing: (1) 1/2 Yard

Fusible Fleece with permanent bond: (1) 1/2 Yard

Contrasting value is important for this project. Darker values for A fabrics and lighter values for B fabrics is recommended.

Neutral thread for construction. It is suggested to match the thread value to the value of your fabrics.

We’re celebrating Local Quilt Shop Day with special deals all day long and a fun, community-building activity for quilters of all levels!

This year, we’re creating a Charity Quilt, and we want YOU to be a part of it! We’re asking all local quilters to make a Churn Dash Block, which will be added to the quilt by our own Angel, and beautifully quilted by Michael.

This is month 12 Block. We will be watching Stephanie’s video and constructing the block together! We will have 2 sessions available per month for you to come by and stitch together our blocks! One of the sessions are on a Thursday and the other is on a Saturday! We will keep the sessions at 4 people! Therefore, it is important to let us know which day you would like to attend!

Remember how fun it was to look through a kaleidoscope as a kid?  Well, now you can enjoy making the Kaleidoscope Block of the Month quilt design by Quilt Addicts Anonymous.  Featuring Spotsy by QT Fabrics, the tone-on-tone meandering dots bring a great textural look to the quilt.

The Kaleidoscope Block of the Month pattern designed by Stephanie Soebbing, the creator and owner of Quilt Addicts Anonymous. The color changes and 12 block designs make the pattern look difficult, but it can be accomplished by any quilter who can sew a half-square triangle.

This is a 12-month program for confident beginners.  The 96” x 96” size is bright and colorful with lots of movement.

There is a $25.00 Sign Up Fee.

It does include the Pattern Book which will be shipped with your first month’s fabric! Once you sign up, a link will be sent to you to enroll into the monthly subscription. The pattern book features 28 full color pages of step-by-step instructions for each block and final quilt assembly. You can also follow along with Stephanie with video tutorials. The monthly subscription is $34.99 (plus sales tax and $5.00 shipping). If you are local, we will refund the $5.00 for shipping, if you choose to pick up.

Have you ever wanted to make a T-Shirt Quilt? This is the 2nd method of 3 that we will host in a T-Shirt Quilt Series!

Class level: Confident beginner.

Instructor: Angel Stauffer

You will receive 15% off supplies needed for class and 15% off in store during the day of class.

Supplies:

Stabilizer: is determined by the size of your blocks.

Fabric:

T-Shirts washed, clean, and without holes.

Fabric for sashing needed will be determined by the size of your quilt blocks.

Thread: 1 spool and loaded bobbin. (I usually use 50 weight Aurifil 2600, which is a light gray in color)

Rulers-

A square 12.5” ruler or larger. We do have an 18.5” Ruler that you may borrow.

Your favorite rotary cutter with a new blade.

Sewing Machine Needle: Ball Point

A pair of fabric scissors

Pins

Seam ripper

Scissors for thread snipping

Sewing Machine:

Sewing machine, cord, foot pedal, manual, recently oiled (if necessary), new needle, familiarity with.

Sewing machine feet-the foot of choice to achieve your 1/4” seam.
