This is the 11th Pattern Drop for the Fantabulous Scrappy Stars QAL!
Center Block 11
The High Flying quilt block is all about movement and fun. With its stepping rectangles and bold lines, this design feels like it’s climbing upward and taking off( I actually wonder if it is to resemble a propellor). First seen in quilts from the late 1800s and early 1900s, High Flying was a clever way for quilters to use scrap strips while still creating a striking design.
There are no fancy points or tricky triangles here — just simple shapes arranged in a way that feels fresh, modern, and full of energy. It’s proof that quilters have been playing with motion and creativity for generations. High Flying may be rooted in tradition, but it still knows how to soar. We are building this block with a FPP pattern. We use a block size that surely needed it! This is what the video focused on. “Sew,” grab your pattern and check out this week’s video!
On our YouTube Channel, a tutorial with tips and tricks is uploaded to give you some inspirations and insights to the pattern. Click Here to watch this week’s video!
As an added bonus, Vicki Holloway of My Creative Corner3 is joining along in the fun!! She will be making the quilt with 4” blocks, instead of the 6” that Angel is doing! Her quilt top will finish at 47” square. Her blocks are beautiful!!! You can follow along her progress at:
