This is the 14th Pattern Drop for the Fantabulous Scrappy Stars QAL!
Center Block 14
The quilt block Drunkard’s Path gets its name mainly from the curving, wandering seam that looks like the unpredictable path of someone staggering after drinking. The curved pieces create a meandering line that resembles the “zig-zag” route a drunk person might take while walking.
The block became popular in the late 1800s in the United States. Its curved shapes were unusual compared with most early quilt blocks, which used straight lines and squares. Quilters thought the irregular, winding line resembled the unsteady path of a drunk person, so the name stuck. As some of us quilter’s love 1 glass of wine while we quilt (although we ain’t drunk, just relaxed-remember, just 1 glass and not a galloon glass!) this block is perfect for the Fantabulous Scrappy Stars QAL!
The pattern is written for applique and traditionally piecing for the 6” and the 4” blocks. “Sew,” grab your pattern, your circle template, and check out this week’s video! Click here to watch the video on YouTube!
On our YouTube Channel, a tutorial with tips and tricks is uploaded to give you some inspirations and insights to the pattern.
As an added bonus, Vicki Holloway of My Creative Corner3 is joining along in the fun!! She will be making the quilt with 4” blocks, instead of the 6” that Angel is doing! Her quilt top will finish at 47” square. Her blocks are beautiful!!! You can follow along her progress at:
